January 12, 1974. That's when I left Buffalo and moved to my true home: California. Sure, I've thought about leaving California a few times... thought about going back to Buffalo for a second when I was pregnant with my first daughter... alone, unemployed, homeless. Thought about moving to St. Thomas after living there for two years. Thought about moving to Manhattan when I was in love with a man who lived there. But, no. This is my home. The caché has changed, the monied jerks have followed, but this place is still preferable to any other. Thank you Mazzy Star... No matter what, I'm goin' back to California.
